Dr. Richard E. Tapert is an
osteopathic physician and certified naturopathic physician.
Prior to his retirement, his clinical practice was focused on what
has come to be known as complementary alternative medicine. Early
in his career he came to the realization that natural methods that
promote the body's innate healing abilities are the only path to
true wellness and vigorous health.
His practice included life-style and nutritional counseling,
intravenous and oral nutritional therapies, osteopathic
manipulation, acupuncture, reconstructive ligament therapy
(prolotherapy) for chronic joint pain, European neural therapy,
intravenous chelation therapy for metal toxicity and circulation
disorders. A major goal was always to help patients eliminate their
need for toxic and costly pharmaceutical drugs.
A diplomate of the American College of Advancement in Medicine, he
was certified in chelation therapy. He was also a certified family
practitioner and a founding member of the Great Lakes College of
Clinical Medicine, a regional group of progressive innovative
physicians which evolved later to become one of the most
influential of the alternative medical groups known as the
International College of Integrative Medicine.
As a jazz vibraphonist he has often found time, along with his busy
practice to play music with some of Detroit's finest jazz musicians
and groups at jazz festivals, concerts, and nightclub venues. His
jazz quartet was known as Dr. Dick's Good Vibes.
Since retirement, Dr. Tapert has focused much of his energy on
continuing his nutritional medical education. He functions within
the nutritional supplement industry as an educator.
